New Volunteer Celebration Recognizes the Contributions of Many
On Saturday, May 25, Brown acknowledged and thanked alumni, graduating seniors, and parents of graduating seniors who had supported the University, cumulatively, with thousands of hours during the past fiscal year. The new Volunteer Celebration event—hosted by Chancellor Thomas J. Tisch ’76 with President Christina H. Paxson—featured remarks by the hosts and by Brown Annual Fund Co-Chairs Sam Mencoff ’78 P’11 P’15 and Andrea Terzi Baum '83 P'15, Vice President for Alumni Relations Todd Andrews and Annual Giving Executive Director Tammie Ruda, and a video. Reunion class leaders received special recognition from Mencoff and Baum, who reviewed reunion class giving totals, participation percentages, and class members on campus for the weekend's festivities.
Many honorees, citing their involvement with the Brown Alumni Association, Brown Annual Fund, Brown Sports Foundation, Brown Medical School, various Advisory Councils, the Women's Leadership Council, and more, spoke of their passion for the University’s community. As Jacqui Hogans ’03 observed in the video: “To be a Brown volunteer is to re-connect with the University in ways you never thought possible.” Guests were thanked one final time—by brightly t-shirted, clapping individuals—as they exited the event to enjoy Field Day and other campus activities.
