UK Trust
The Brown University Charitable Trust (the "Trust") is registered in both the UK and the US. The Trust enables UK taxpayers to obtain UK tax relief and enables those liable for UK and US tax typically to obtain tax relief in both countries on the same contribution.
The donor obtains relief on his or her taxes and Brown gets additional funds from the British Government equal usually to 25% of the original donation. The donor's £100 gift yields £125 for Brown. The donor gets credit for the incremental proceeds as they are added to the contribution and designated to the same purpose as the original gift. Gifts can be made in either £ sterling or US $.
