Building Excitement: The New Medical School
Members of the Brown community gathered on October 21, 2011 to formally dedicate the new home of The Warren Alpert Medical School—the first exclusive space for the School in its nearly 40-year history. At the event the University also celebrated another form of dedication: the Alpert family's philanthropic focus on improving human health, culminating in the conferring of an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters on Herbert M. Kaplan, president of the Warren Alpert Foundation and CEO of Warren Equities. "With this degree, we proudly recognize [Herb Kaplan's] dedication to helping sustain and enhance all of our lives through better health," said President Ruth J. Simmons.
In this video--created especially for the dedication--students, faculty, alumni, and supporters of Alpert Medical School share their views on this exciting new building.
